Hi! Quick CB update for everyone:
We are happy to announce that Lucca has made it home! He left the PICU today to the sight and sounds of doctors and nurses wearing party hats and blowing horns. He was adorned with his very own crown and shook maracas all the way to the car. Ashley made Lucca promise that they would come back to visit and see their PICU friends— but no sleepovers for him!
While Lucca, Ashley, and Ben are thrilled to be at home, there is still a long road ahead of them. Lucca requires multiple medications daily in order to keep the rhythm and pace of his heart in control. His parents learned the importance of administering the medication in a timely manner and correct dosing. Lucca will continue to see cardiologists on a weekly basis, with many appointments in the next two weeks. At each appointment, he will get an EKG and echocardiogram to ensure that his heart is functioning correctly and efficiently. The goal is to manage his arrhythmia through medication and avoid a trip back to the cath lab for additional ablations, however, it might be necessary in the future.
Ashley and Ben want to thank all of you for being a part of Lucca’s journey. While the hospital is the rear view mirror for now, there are still miles to go. We will continue to post updates as the family begins their multiple outpatient visits.
