Meridith and Shaun’s Story

Site created on October 14, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

"I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful...my frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place..your eyes saw my unformed body.  All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."- Psalms 139: 13-16

After many months of trying, Shaun and Meridith Norwood were elated to find out in Spring 2018 that they were pregnant with a beautiful baby girl, due December 2018. While the first few months of the pregnancy were relatively complication-free, the end of the 2nd trimester and 3rd trimester have brought their fair share of challenges. Baby Girl Norwood (Paisley Alexis), a miracle baby, has been diagnosed with severe neurological, cardiac, and skeletal malformations. We do not know what the road ahead holds, but we do know that this beautiful little girl has been prayed for and loved since before her heart took its first beat.  As you can imagine, Meridith and Shaun are heartbroken and afraid, but still head over heels in love with their baby girl.

Journal entry by Jennifer Martin

First, thank you to everyone for their outpouring of thoughts and prayers in the past few days and weeks. They've been felt and much needed.

Meridith and Shaun checked into Texas Health Harris Methodist on Wednesday evening and were induced on Thursday around 10am. After several hours of labor, Paisley went into distress rather quickly after Meridith's water broke and she had an emergency c-section on Thursday evening. Thankfully, the doctors were able to avoid full anesthesia and Shaun was able to join Meridith in the operating room.

Miss Paisley Alexis was born at 9:54pm on Thursday, November 15th. She weighed 3 lbs 5 ounces, was 16 inches long, and was absolutely beautiful. She passed away moments after she was given to her parents. While the heartbreak we feel is immense, we have peace knowing that she felt no pain and for her entire life, she knew nothing but love. She was such a brave girl for 9 months and fought so hard to meet her parents..and once she did, she was ready to move on to her heavenly home and now she is with Jesus.

The loss is devastating. While our faith is our foundation and we have peace in knowing her life was one of the most beautiful, our grief is immense. Please keep Meridith and Shaun, and their family and friends, in your thoughts and prayers. They are needed now more than ever.
