Journal entry by Alyssa Pfister

It’s been two years since our last post! What a journey it has been. We had stopped giving Dawson feeds probably around November or last year. Even when a child is doing well and eating on their own, the doctor will recommend keeping the g-tube for around 3-6 months to ensure they are gaining weight. On March 8th of this year we realized too late that his g-tube had fallen out. If you don’t get it back in within 30 minutes, the hole starts to close up. It had been at least an hour. We panicked and called our pediatrician and she gave us the green light to let it close up. We were scared, but excited at the same time. Unfortunately it has not been that easy, and the hole did not close up on its own. So here we are after having to reschedule 7 weeks ago…finally about to get closure surgery on Thursday (June 15th)! I would like to thank everyone who has been with us since the very beginning of Dawson’s journey. If you can please send us prayers and positive vibes for Thursday’s surgery and a healthy recovery, we would appreciate it! By the way, Dawson is about to start kindergarten in August and he is so excited! He also has a little sister that he loves so much
