Today was a great day - my mom was discharged from the hospital! Even though she is still feeling some of the effects of the pneumonia and cancer treatments, she is doing significantly better, and after 13 days in the hospital with no visitors, it's especially nice to be able to see each other in person!
Fun story... Lori went to my mom's house early today to set up and decorate my mom's Christmas tree before my mom arrived. Shirley arrived at the house at the same time as my mom and I. It was priceless to see my mom's surprise and smile when she walked into the house and found Lori there with the decorated tree. As many of you know, Christmas is a very special time of year at my mom's house! While it's hard to say what the future will bring, we'll savor these moments when they arrive. Shirley will be staying with my mom again, which is a blessing - she is incredibly helpful and caring.
