Journal entry by Joan Scott

It's treatment day!  Ashley's appointment is a little later in the morning this time, so she and Jay are driving up today. No nights away from Lincoln!  Ashley is starting her second type of chemo called Taxol today. It is administered in 12 doses, but it's considered four rounds. So, let's call today her round 1A of Taxol!  Because she has the BRCA1 gene mutation, she will also be given a drug called Carbo with this treatment. The first treatment of each round of Taxol will include Carbo. We're hoping that the next 12 weeks will be a little easier than the last 8. Her recovery time between treatments of AC grew longer after each treatment leaving her only feeling very good for a few days before her next treatment. Many report that Taxol is a bit easier, so our hopes are that it may be easier on her too!  We also need to encourage Ashley's mom, Sherry!  Sherry was walking Jay and Ashley's dog, Ella, which ended with Sherry falling and breaking her wrist!  She's waiting to find out if she needs surgery or will be put in a cast!  Well wishes and prayers for safe travels, easy treatments and quick healing for all!
