Ashley and Nicole’s Story

Site created on March 19, 2019

Ashley and Nicole were in a severe car accident on Sunday night, March 17th.  They were backseat passengers in a car, that struck a median and they were thrown from the vehicle.  Police and Paramedics showed up on the scene and rushed them to the emergency room at Northwestern Memorial Hospital at 251 E. Huron St in Chicago, IL.

They both had emergency spinal fusion surgery on Monday, March 18th.  We now wait and pray for a speedy recovery.  See journal updates below for the latest information.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Keith Llorens

Well, good afternoon one and all!

This update has been a long time coming.  Ashley (came home June 21st) and Nicole (came home May 28th) have both been home for a while now.  We have let both of them embrace their new norm of life and have protected their privacy a bit as they acclimate themselves back at home.  All of their updates can now be found on Instagram at the following site @AshleyNikkiStory.  They are providing updates and answering questions as they receive them.  You can go to the site and catch up on their personal updates.

I would like to personally thank each and every one of you who have been praying for their recovery.  This has been one of the toughest moments we have ever had as a family.  While we are not out of the woods as they still have Physical therapy three times a week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday), we ask that you continue to Pray for strength and perseverance.

Ashley and Nikki are now communicating directly to all of you via Instagram so go follow them on their journey.  There are good days and there are bad days.  All I know is that they continue to make progress and that is truly all that matters.  I want them to share their struggles so you know what their new lives are like.  I want you to learn from them like my family and I have with appreciating life in a whole new way.  I want you to not sweat the small stuff and for you to have a new perspective on what real struggles are.  I want you to know that they still have their spunk for life and to embrace their outlook on life.  I want you to accept their strengths and their weaknesses as they are growing from all of this, just like anyone does in this game of life.

So Ashley and Nicole, your entire family and friends love you more than you will ever know.  We will make mistakes in trying to understand what you are going through.  We will make mistakes in how you want to be supported.  We will make mistakes in taking our lives for granted.  We look forward to learning from you.  We look forward to a new perspective on life.  We look forward to picking you up when you are down.  We look forward to celebrating your successes. We also look forward to challenging you when you need to be challenged.  We look forward to being a part of your new JOURNEY!

My last verse "I can do all things through Him who gives me strength". Philippians 4:13

Peace and Love!
