Ashley and Joshua’s Story

Site created on October 7, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family up to date instead of me typing and relying on others to get message out. As most of you know when I was 24 weeks pregnant they found a bulge where it looked like my placenta was growing into my uterus medical term is acretta. On September 21 I had severe abdominal pain to the point I couldn't get out of bed, week 26 and 5 days. I, Josh and Annie rushed to Sioux Falls due to the fact they thought I had a placenta or uterine rupture, thank God this wasn't the case. They did confirm with an MRI that I did have a placenta acretta with placenta previa and that my uterus was thinning. The pain didn't not go away. My wonderful Dr. decided on Tuesday September 25 that it would be best for me to stay at the Ronald McDonald House until 30 weeks and than we will he readmitted to the hospital for 4 weeks.

Journal entry by Ashley Nibbelink

I was 3 days old on November 2nd 2019. Today I got to meet my big sister JayCee and let's just say she thinks I'm cute. She didnt get mad when daddy put his hand in my incubator but we'll see what she does when daddy holds me.
My doctor said that I was almost able to get of this big cpap and go to a nose cannula but I didnt feel like doing that. I'm still little. She did tell mommy and daddy that monday they are going to try again.
I am eating 10 ml of formula mixed with mommy's breast milk every 4 hrs. I dont like laying on my tummy or being moved but when I lay on my back I feel amazing.
Mommy and daddy got to see my face without the machines on today and they say I look like my daddy. That's okay I'm already wrapped around his finger.
