Today is World Spina Bifida Day!

On average, people w/ SB have at least 8 surgeries before the age of 18- thinking about the recovery period from those surgeries, the pain and discomfort before and after, and everything else is sobering. Those w/ spina bifida are truly super heroes 🦸🏽 Millie has had 7/8 of those in her short 15 months and will have her 8th in January.  There is a 60% chance this surgery will prevent her from having to go through a very hard and painful brain surgery. We are trying to be hopeful that it will work.

SB effects you’re entire body as its a neurological and neurocognitive condition. Every system is effect and most people just see the physical effects.

I am in awe of all SB children’s tenacity and strength and hope that some day there is a cure/preventative treatment for it 💛
