Journal entry by Jillian Wright

Well everyone, HE DID IT!

We got a call last Friday afternoon from Arden's neonatologist. She said, "Well, he just decided to go ahead and grow up all at once on us!" He certainly did. Once he started taking bottles, things really took off for Arden. He was quickly taking bottles for all feeds, reached 5 lbs, and was able to move to an open crib and maintain his body temperature well.

With little notice, we were told we would be coming to "room in" with him on Sunday evening. We got all of the finishing touches done at the house to prepare for his arrival and packed up!

We spent Sunday night at the hospital and loved every waking moment of it. Let me be clear: that is the same as saying we loved every moment because... they were ALL WAKING! :) We did not get a wink of sleep because Mr. Arden wanted to "talk" (and poop!) all night.

We had so much fun bringing him home and introducing him to the dogs, Otis and Isla. Arden seemed to love his room and has especially loved rocking in his "MamaRoo" from our friends Max and Megan. Within moments we’d already dirtied 3 swaddle blankets and 3 onesies. The laundry situation has gotten real! Of course, he has also decided he likes to sleep the entire day and party all night! ;) I guess this is a rite of passage though.

Thank you all so much for your support over the last 6 weeks (can you believe it's been 6 weeks?!). We feel so much more "whole" with our little boy here in the house with us. We cannot help but think about what it would have been like to bring both of our little guys home - Arden AND Field - but, we know Field is still with us in his way... enjoying every minute.

I've attached a photo of Arden in his "going home outfit". I guess I overestimated his size! Hey, he'll grow into it... grow, Arden, grow!

xoxo,
