Antonio’s Story

Site created on August 10, 2018

Antonio  Gillis  was in a car accident in the early hours of August 9th.  He was flown to Dell Medical Center and received life saving surgical treatment.  He has significant head trauma and is in ICU recovering now.  We are not fully aware of the extent of his brain injuries. It will take several days or longer for the swelling to subside and assess the extent of his injuries. He is being cared for by an excellent team of healthcare professionals and is surrounded by his family.  Antonio needs rest and will not be able to receive visitors until he is out of ICU.  You can reference this web page for updated information and ask any questions in the comments section of this site.

Journal entry by Shannon Guerra

Three years ago this month I received one of the worst phone calls a parent could ever get.  My son was in a horrible accident and I am very amazed at how focused, strong and present during this time. For some reason this year is tough. I am staying busy and focus on all the great things going on in our family. When I see Aria, Antonio’s daughter I can’t help but see him in her little face. She is loving, smart and full of energy.  Thank  you for all of your thoughts and prayers during that time.  God bless all of you during this trying time in our country.

Much Love,

Shannon
