Ann’s Story

Site created on December 9, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.

As some of you know, Ann had tumors removed from her bladder 12/3.  She returned to the Urologist Monday 12/9 with Jenni and Dean to learn the pathology results. She was found to have noninvasive high grade tumors. A CT scan confirmed that the two tumors on the bladder were the only ones present.

Treatment will begin in about 6 weeks when her bladder is fully healed and will consist of instilling BCG (bacillus calmette guerin) into her bladder. This will encourage an immune response intended to target any cancer cells that are present. This treatment will be repeated at regular intervals. We will not know if she will need chemo until after therapy begins. And apparently bladder cancer recurs pretty frequently so she will undergo ongoing monitoring likely for years.

Although this is all scary and stressful, Ann is feeling pretty much herself. She’s more tired than usual, but otherwise says she’s feeling ok. She’s home with Dean, stay warm and following the doctor’s order to a tee!

We  appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Much love from us to you- Ann, Dean, Jenni, George, Kris and Travis ❤️
