Journal entry by Aleyna Perszyk-Dorr —
Today our girl got to come home with us! One week, on the hour, from the time she was admitted we exited Astrid Lindgren Barnsjukhus (children's hospital) and practically skipped to our car. Ultimately, it was found that she had the most extreme case the doctors had ever seen of the Adenovirus. We are so grateful for all of your loving support through this very tumultuous, scary and stressful time. I can't tell you how wonderful it is to have all 4 of us under the same roof again. There is still a road to be traveled to Anika's full recovery. She is gaunt, a bit sunken-eyed, a few pounds shy of herself, and still a bit lethargic, but her smiles have replaced the painful grimaces. And, those are priceless and those we can work with.
Thank you again to all of you who took part in this journey with us. We are so appreciative!
Lots of gratitude and love from the Burevall Family!
Signing off for good...
