Angèle Gautreaux was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer in November, 2019 at the age of 36. Her cancer is aggressive and had metastasized to her liver by the time it was diagnosed. She has already begun chemotherapy and continues to receive testing that will help her doctors devise a targeted treatment plan.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Angele Gautreaux

Well, it’s been quite a long while since I’ve posted any real updates, & I suppose the time has now arrived:

Last week, we found a total of 7 new brain lesions & one more sizable mass on my left frontal lobe.

After much back & forth re: plans w/radiation oncology, Neuro Surgeons, & my Med Oncology Team, I’ve decided on a course of action that will allow me to contribute to a Clinical Trial at Weil Cornell over the course of the following 3 yrs (I’m just going to go ahead & use this as my own timeline goals now 😏). We’ll be treating my brain masses w/Gamma Knife Radiation over the course of 3, hour-long sessions, & I’ll then receive an Immunotherapy Protocol that has shown great promise w/several other types of cancers.  One lesion will stay untreated to compare the potential  effect of immunotherapy alone without the radiation, but, monitored very closely & should it grow, it will receive the radiation treatment at that time, so, there is very low risk for me & I am very excited to be given an opportunity to contribute like this.

It will require a significant time commitment, & I’ll have to work to fundraise for travel expenses, but, this is a purpose I can live with! ❤️

Currently, I’m still admitted in-Patient at Weil Cornell Hospital in Manhattan, & I’ll give you guys more news to follow once I have myself, received it.

Thank you all for your continued love & support both far & near. It truly takes a community/village to thrive with this disease plaguing you, & the people along for the journey make all the difference. ❤️
