Angela’s Story

Site created on July 29, 2021

Welcome to our page!  As we anxiously await baby Liam's arrival, Nico and Angela want to make sure everyone stays updated.  Thank you all for the love, prayer and support you have shown the Villacura family thus far.

As many of you know, Angela is currently  pregnant with their first child, William "Liam" Ramon Villacura.   Angela and Nico were made aware at their twenty week anatomy scan that Liam was measuring very small for his age. Angela's OB referred her to a specialist to further investigate Liam's growth and development. The ultrasound revealed abnormal blood flow in the placenta and umbilical cord.  They began frequent monitoring and recommended Angela take caution and reduce stress that may cause hypertension and variation of blood flow to the baby.

Over the next several weeks of increased doctors appointments and ultrasounds, there was very little change in growth and blood flow.  Angela and Liam were admitted to Wellstar Kennestone on July 22 to have frequent monitoring and daily doppler ultrasounds throughout the day.  Liam has remained stable, although the chance of early delivery is still very likely.

Angela's doctors initial goal is to make it past 28 weeks (after August 5th).  Liam will be tiny and will have a tough fight ahead of him, but he will benefit from the best medical care available.  After delivery, Liam's medical team anticipates that he will spend 4-6 weeks in NICU.  Fortunately, both parents will be allowed 24-7 access to Liam while he grows and develops.

Nico and Angela are very thankful for the family and friends they have been blessed with.  Please keep their family in your thoughts and prayers as they start this new adventure in life.  We are excited to meet baby Liam and it is amazing to see how much he is already loved.  Please continue with all the support, as you all make every day a little easier for the parents to be.

We will work our best to keep you updated as to Liam's development and Angela's health.

Love and Prayers,

Newest Update

Journal entry by Angela Villacura

After 69 days in the NICU, Liam finally got to come home on Tuesday! He has done absolutely amazing these last two days. Nico and I are sleep deprived, surrounded by dirty diapers and bottles, yet we are the happiest we’ve ever been. Our little family is finally all together! ❤️
