Hello this page was created my me, Connie, Megan’s friend to keep you all updated on her Andy and the girls! I’m excited to be apart of this journey and share their story!
Thursday Aug 30th Megan suspected her water broke at about 10 pm and they went to Children’s immediately. They confirmed her water did break and that she should expect to be in the hospital for 2 months, and not to GO ANYWHERE! The next morning Megan began to feel slight contractions, they subsided throughout the day and then by 5pm they came back again and they were every 7 to 9 min and about a 4-5 intensity they by 7 they got to a 6-7 and then at 9pm they were at a 9 and coming every 3-5 mins and it WAS ON! At his point Megan was dilated to a 6 and the doctor decided it was time to GO! Andy managed to pack up 2 months worth of goods in just 10 min which impressed Megan greatly! Immediate family arrived and there was concern in the air, however Megan stayed cool calm and collected despite the fact that her dad showed up white as a ghost! She just knew everything was going to be ok and she managed to calm the nerves of others with her laugh and energy :) They got into the OR room at 11:11pm on August 31st and they were planning for both births to be vaginal. She had her first contraction to push and she managed to get Eloise in her birth canal. The second contraction she pushed 3 more time and she crowned. Then she delivered this little ball of fire on 3rd contraction. Eloise came out at 11:52pm screaming balling arms flailing and completely over being in mom, this little girl was ready to be apart of our world and had no desire to wait! Alyra was breech so the doc had to go and grab her by the feet. She arrived at 11:58pm! They were born on the same day by 2 mins! Eloise was 2.2lbs and 14.5 inches long Alyra was 2.12lbs and she was 15.25 inches.
Eloise is the big little sister who is a firecracker! Megan said, “Every one of her nurses that has ever worked on her has said that she is so feisty, which is awesome because they need to be fiesty when they are in the NICU!”
As of 9-22 here is how we are doing….
“They girls are amazing. They are doing great, their progress is great!”
Eloise is 2.8lbs. She is on a CPAP for her breathing and she is doing amazing with that. Her lungs were just a little bit smaller and needs some extra help.
Alyra is 2.14lbs and is on a high flow nasal cannula. She got quite bruised from the delivery but is healing well! Sometimes she has spells where she forgets to breathe but all week long she has been able to come back out on her own without being reminded by a nurse or mom. She looks just like her father. Megan said “She has a stink face and she look just like her daddy” Megan said that she is not being bias but they have the most beautiful hands and feet she has ever seen and “they are going to be pianist, they need to play the piano or the violin”
Megan is producing liquid gold (breast milk) which they are drinking along with some protein supplementation. They are also getting VitD, sodium and Iron. They are both off TPN and digesting their food well. They are off the UV lights no more jaundice. Mom and babies had a bath date on Saturday! Megan and Andy see the girls daily and do kangaroo cares :)
The doctor this week said that she likes to end her day with the girls because they are her grand finale of the day, and they are the angles on the floor!!!
Keep all the thoughts and prayers coming and lets help get these girls home with mom and dad!!! 🙏
