Newest Update

Journal entry by Heather Andrews

MICHAEL
Michael had his last post-op appointment on Wednesday.  As the wife, it was so wonderful to see so many medical professionals coming to check up on Michael: Dietitian, Social Worker, Resident, Attending (Dr. Perez, who operated on Jim) and the rock star nurse (Stephanie!).

After that, we started the trek home.  We made it safely, and have been surrounded by continuous love and support with family and friends.  We are especially grateful for this, since Michael can’t lift anything (or any kid!) over 15 pounds. He also has been having trouble sleeping.  His pain has been reduced to general dull aches, but the lack of sleep has definitely been difficult.

JIM
Jim has also been doing well!  So well in fact, Jim and Leslie are headed home!  They will be returning to Menlo Park on Tuesday 10/22.  Also, his pain is much more manageable.

NEXT STEPS
Here’s to the next HEALTHY stage for both Jim and Michael!  Michael is on pace to be fully recovered Mid-November. We anticipate him being able to go back to his previous health and workout regimen to his full capacity.  Jim will be having regular appointments to monitor how well his body accepts the new kidney. Everything (so far) continues to point to everything going well.

THANK YOU
Thank you so much for following our story.  Your love and generous gifts have absolutely blown us away.  If you are interested in continuing to help us out, please see the Meal Train link that I added to the “Ways to Help” tab on this site. If you are unable to send or give a meal but would like to help out with food, you can also send gift cards to our local grocery stores: Von's, Sprouts and Smart & Final.

CONTINUED PRAYER REQUESTS
For Heather and Leslie:  Patience, strength and support as they take care of their men and families.

For Jim: That the new kidney would continue to make itself at home while Jim adjusts to his new normal.

For Michael:  That he would be able to regain his ability to sleep deeply as he adjusts back to regular life.  For guidance as he continues job hunting. We are hoping to line him up with a job that involves Program/Project Management, Business Development, Procurement, or something similar.

LOVE,

Heather
