Andrew’s Story

Site created on July 7, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.  Andrew was admitted to the hospital Thursday, July 1st for stomach issues they ran a bunch of tests trying to figure out what was happening. They went ahead and took him to surgery and found that his appendix had ruptured which caused all kinds of infection to be in his body. On Friday his lungs were not getting enough oxygen so they ran some more tests. At this point they decided that he needed to be put on a ventilator to help his lungs heal. So on Friday they sedated him and put him on the ventilator. Hoping for only 2 to 3 days. On Saturday, July 3rd they were trying to transport him, but he was not stable enough with his lungs and heart to go. Sunday morning his heart rate and oxygen level was where it was should be. Trying to hold off till Tuesday to drain more infection from his abdomen. On Monday, July 5th his oxygen dropped really low, so they turned him on his stomach to get more oxygen flowing. He is fully sedated at this time. It was so hard because he seemed to be improving and then all of sudden he got worse. They were going to turn him back over to his back at 9:30 pm and then changed to midnight. They were able to flip him onto his back and his levels stayed good and his temperature went down. Tuesday, July 6th he was doing great! Stacey even did a cartwheel in the waiting room! He had done great for 9 hours on his back. They moved him to prevent bed sores and then things went downhill. Plan to take fluid off abdomen today (Tuesday) then put him back on his stomach to help his lungs. So now we are to Wednesday, July 7th seemed to be doing well this morning with all his numbers. At 9:00pm they transported him to hospital in Temple. It is a much bigger hospital so hopefully they can help him improve. His ride to the hospital was a success and his stats stayed stable.

I will continue to update as I get information from the family. Please, please, please continue to pray for Andrew and his family. Put his name on every prayer list possible. Please leave encouraging messages for the family. They really need our prayers and support right now.

Love and blessings,
