Andrew’s Story

Site created on April 22, 2019

Andrew has recently been diagnosed with Leukemia. This diagnosis absolutely blindsided us all. He was relaxing in Deep Creek after an Easter egg hunt, and we got the call that we needed to go to the Johns Hopkins Pediatric ER right away. His blood work from having a prolonged fever revealed concerning platelet levels. We dropped everything (literally-we were in the middle of grouting our shower!) and drove to Johns Hopkins. We went from relaxing in Deep Creek to a preliminary diagnosis of Leukemia to a absolute diagnosis with a chemo schedule. Just. Like. That. Andrew is a fighter and will beat this. I have no doubt about it.

Journal entry by Paul Mercier

As many may recall, Andrew had a farting unicorn that was not only a hit on the oncology floor but also brought him so much joy.
Today we have started down the the road of what we hope eventually becomes a non-profit that provides kids with much needed laughter.
We will be taking remote controlled fart machines and placing them inside stuffed animals and providing them to kids going through unimaginable battles.
We will be in need of people to help sew, but initially our plan can be supported by using the link below. We are not taking any of the funds for ourselves, every penny will go towards creating laughs at the hospital.
