Journal entry by Brett Tyler

Well, we got home a few days ago (Thursday) and things are going well.  There have been zero side effects or complications with the colon surgery.  There is certainly some pain and discomfort, but no infections or bleeding.  Andi is in good spirits and surprisingly mobile.  She’s made the trek out of the house to assist me in shopping for all the essentials for making healthy and delicious smoothies.  And when I say “essential”, I’m talking about the basic fundamental stuff that everybody uses in smoothie making.  Things like broccoli, and flaxseed (something or other) and hemp seed things.  And who would’ve thought you could spend 17 glorious minutes in the Supplements aisle shopping for turmeric.  Do not think for a second that you can just go rushing in all willy nilly to grab some of this spice.  (I think it’s a spice....?). Apparently, it’s healing powers are compromised if the user doesn’t compare ingredients on all the options at least three times.
Anyway, she’s mobile but it does make her tired and she’s getting lots of rest.
Her next doctor appt is Thursday with her colorectal surgeon (just a simple follow up).  Her first oncologist appt is on the 11th.
The boys are doing super, enjoying their winter break from school and working very hard to hit their goal of 10 billion hours playing video games.  Andi and I are building out our Parents of the Year resumes by blaming the weather for the boys’ excessive indoor activities.  It truly has been terrible.  I’m looking forward to my next trip to Seattle to get a break from the crappy gray rainy weather.
Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers, notes, and flowers.

And by the way, we never did buy any turmeric.  I think I have to go out and try again.
