Newest Update

Journal entry by B Holmes

You know, every time I see a new picture of Andi, I am struck with how absolutely lovely she is.  How inspiring is this woman?  In the midst of uncertainty and the unknown, she is clinging to the promises of Jesus.  That He is for her and not against her, that he wants her to prosper- and she is absolutely RADIANT.

She has received her Oncotype Dx Score, and the number is 19.  Interpreted- that means that she has a borderline low/intermediate chance of cancer returning.  Generally, if the score is under 22-25, chemo is NOT recommended.  Andi will meet with her oncologist this Tuesday to go over treatment options, but Dr. Brian does not feel at this time that chemo will be needed.

Most likely, we will be looking more along the lines of estrogen blockers, at least for now, until we receive the test results from the BRCA gene test (due back November 2).  This one is important, because it will determine whether they will want to move forward with ovary removal.  It also is significant to Andi's daughters- so of course, prayers are the best action here.

Andi is pleased with the news thus far, and is optimistic.

As I conclude this update, I feel the need to share something that has been on my heart.  Facebook can be such a double-edged sword- a land where one goes to stay up to date, but also one where your emotions can be lifted or shattered.  It's also the land where words can become cliché, such as the word "Prayers", or the phrase "I'm praying for you".  Do you even wonder how world changing it would be if all of the people who profess to pray for one on Facebook actually did it???  For those that believe in Jesus, and believe that he truly communicates to us through prayer- we realize that it's not just a tool in our arsenal, it's the most powerful one that we have.

I want to thank those of you that are praying for Andi and her family.  It is so very evident that there are some true prayer warriors in our midst, spending time on their knees, standing in the gap for her family....we know that it is because of you and your willingness to spend time speaking to our Father on her behalf that we have such wonderful news.  I thank you, Andi thanks you, her family thanks you.

May the Lord bless each one of you-
Brandi
