August 9, 2020 - Time at home

Anders got to come home Thursday evening - his body cleared the chemo really well this time! After resting and recovering Friday, Mike and I took him to the beach on Saturday. It was an absolutely steamy Duluth day. Anders was THRILLED to be swimming for the first time in a very long while. The smile on his face was giant. We spent some time throwing a football around in the water and then went to have dinner at my parents' cabin. It was a lovely day.

Anders is moving about the house really well. And he is walking more and more without his cane. Tonight, he cleaned up the kitchen after dinner. He is very pleased to be able to contribute to the household again- it's very sweet.

He will go for his last cisplatin/doxorubicin infusion on Wednesday. Cisplatin is the drug that makes him very nauseous and causes his counts to crash. This is also the drug that he needs the hearing protection infusion for- that's the infusion that made Anders so terribly sick last cycle when he got it the first time. Thank goodness, it's the last time he'll get it. His hearing test on Friday showed a tiny bit of change in upper frequencies. He's been blessed so far to not have lost much hearing, though his oncologist says it can occur for a number of years following treatment.

We are managing to enjoy this beautiful summer, in spite of all the hospital stays, etc. We hope you are, too!
