Amy’s Story

Site created on June 12, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.

I was diagnosed with MS November of 2013. Prior to that I had been dealing with symptoms and pushing doctor(s) to test and identify what was going on in my body. This battle eventually lead me to this point in time. A time in which I have the opportunity to fight a tough battle that will hopefully, not only stop the progression of this awful disease, but also reverse some of the effects. This clinical trial is a nationwide trial that has shown incredible results in Europe. I’m very excited for this opportunity, but even more so about the hope it can bring for other MS fighters.

On Tuesday, June 8th, I started the “official” stem cell transplant journey… please read my journal entries for updates, and thank you in advance for your love and support!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Erik Hansen

Thought I would give an update on how things are going. Since getting home, I’ve struggled with nausea and eating. I’m doing much better, eating regularly and gaining back some weight. My energy has been increasing and in general I feel pretty good 😊

I woke up Sunday morning and noticed some issues with my right arm. When I started to explain it to Erik, my speech was mostly gibberish. We went to the ER and I was diagnosed with a stroke. I was given an injection of a medication that dissolved the clot and was admitted to the Neurological ICU. Over the course of the day and into the evening my symptoms resolved and I was able to come home later in the day yesterday. So grateful for the care I received from all the doctors and nurses. They do not think this is related to the transplant. I’ll be doing more follow-up testing to figure that out.

Thank you for your continued support💜
