Ames’s Story

Site created on January 9, 2022

Ames was recently diagnosed with AML (acute myeloid leukemia)..  Ames has a long road ahead of him.  Please continue to pray specifically that he tolerates the treatment and responds to therapy.  #teamames

Journal entry by Wendy Lee

Today Ames is +30 days post-transplant.  Overall, he is doing well.  He still doesn't have an appetite and is battling nausea, but today he ate 1/2 of a strawberry.  Our goal for OT (occupation therapy) is to eat a bite of something bland 3 x day.  He is on a lot of medications and it's hard on his stomach since he also is dealing with delayed emptying of the stomach.  I pray that this will improve with time.  He remains on TPN for nutrition.  Tomorrow will be his first bone marrow aspirate and biopsy post-transplant.  I am a little anxious about this test since Ames went into transplant with evidence of disease at the molecular level.  Prayer request for tomorrow is for his marrow to be clear of disease and his marrow to be 100% donor.  Please continue to pray for sweet Ames and his complete healing.  I will post as soon as we get biopsy results.  Thank you all for your prayers.
