Amelia continues to kick Strep B in the butt! We are so grateful that both her blood culture (measures the amount of growing bacteria from the Strep B virus) and spinal fluid shows no growth for 5 days! With this said, the bacteria is clearing out of her body with the antibiotics which she will be on at the hospital for 14 days. This is such a huge milestone, considering we came into this very scary situation not knowing how long her recovery would be.
GBS (Group B Strep) is nothing to mess around with. After sharing Mia's journey with this infection and her progress so far, several other moms have reached out to me to share their stories. Some far more serious than others--our prayers go out to you if you have experienced this with your own child. It is a fatal infection if not caught early enough. I thank God every day for giving me the "mama instinct" to take our sweet girl to the ER and then to CHOA to be treated.
Although Mia's case was described as being the "more severe" level in having Strep B, God has surely taken care of our little girl. We know we may have some challenges ahead of us; however, we know that God will continue to provide for our sweet family. We are still scheduled to be discharged at the beginning of next week! Prayers that Mia continues to progress so we can have our little family together again very soon!
