Newest Update

Journal entry by Shelby Pahl

Our family started making a public appearance all together of the last week.  Although I am super cautious still to bring Gino around people that may be more of mother bear protection.   Our village has been amazing and with trying to balance my emotions and trying to get back to a new normal it’s been challenging but each day gets easier. This weekend and this week Gino tagged along with me some places and we had strangers, friends, and family members recognizing Gino and the smile it brough them to see him out and about is something that is replacing the negative images that roll in my head from the hospital.  The smiles and support that shined in our village faces is now becoming a stronger image versus the words that I am trying to get out of my head.  So, THANK YOU, for your smiles, support, prayers, and being my village.  You have no idea how a simple how are you, it’s so good to see Gino out, how is the rest of the family doing? We love you!!

Which made me realize I need to update all those that havent been able to see his smile that I so missed.  Gino was a happy kid that during a time of chaos (covid) he was able to bring light to our family.  I wanted to share his smile that came back!!!  Our Gino is back.  Here are some of the photos from today we are still working on strength (lots of squats) and working on getting his immune system back to normal.

Today Mom and Gino head to Mayo, we hope to be there two days max but I am hopeful maybe just today.  I will be commuting back and forth because as the days come closer being home will help us emotionally, unless he is admitted.  We were connect with a Rocky Mountain Specialist who studied it in depth in her residency program down south.  She called me personally and I am thrilled to hear what Gino’s future holds and how his labs look.  The sun is shining, Gino and I will be cruising with windows open and jamming to music!

We will update you more as we know more.

His shirt today is from my cousin, it’s so fitting we had to wear it today. The child stronger than you think!
