Amber’s Story

Site created on March 23, 2019

On Thursday March 21, 2019, Amber was admitted St.Charles in Bend. After MRIs and a full battery of tests we found out she had scattered strokes all through the back side of her brain and near her brain stem. She has been improving slowly but has a long road ahead. Her speech has been greatly impacted and her left side is very weak. We are unsure how long she will be in the hospital or skilled rehab center.

Yesterday Amber went home to Mom's house For a home visit. It went pretty well. she did get sick on the way over, but they said that that was normal for a stroke patient to do that on the first car ride. She was very happy to see Moms dogs. The therapists had to see if she could get it in and out of the bed,in and out of the bathroom and into the shower safely. she did have a little trouble over the weekend with your blood pressure being too low. So they had to cut physical therapy down because it was too low. today they'll be trying some different meds to get a control before she comes home on Thursday. Her calcium levels are still elevated as well. She got a lot of mail today and that was a big moral boost for her. Thank you to everyone who sent her things!
