Amber’s Story

Site created on May 26, 2020

Amber was recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer at the age of 37. She has begun the long process of choosing a medical team, soon undergoing a double mastectomy, and establishing a treatment plan - all while being a mother of two energetic four year old twin boys and a loving wife, daughter, and friend to all of us. NEW UPDATE: 10/27/2020: Today, this incredible woman completed her sixteenth, and last, week of chemo!!!!!!!!!! We will keep everyone posted as she completed radiation, and surgery, but TODAY WE CELEBRATE! Cheers to you, Amber!
UPDATE: 7/21/2020: Amber started chemotherapy today downtown with her medical team at Northwestern. She will continue chemo for 16 weeks and will then begin radiation for 5 weeks. She continues to have a positive attitude through it all. Thank you all for your continued prayers and well wishes. UPDATE: 6/26/2020: Amber is still in the process of recovering from her surgery. She has spent the week meeting with her medical team. She will begin chemotherapy in the next 4- 5 weeks followed by radiation. She continues to have a great attitude through it all. UPDATE: Amber arrived home on 6/13/2020, the day after her surgery. She is doing pretty well and even had the motivation to go on a long family walk! UPDATE: Amber is out of surgery and resting. The doctors both felt the surgeries went well. UPDATE: Amber is having her mastectomy on June 12th at Northwestern-Prentice downtown. She is feeling confident in her medical team so far.
