Newest Update

Journal entry by Jeremy & Amanda Steinemann

Just a quick little update-
I had my final step of breast reconstruction surgery this last Tuesday. Soo thankful I am done with this part and can say….  YAY!!!!!  I have fully finished a process!!

I met with the Mayo today on a video call. My cancer doctor here reached out to them for a second opinion due to my cancer showing some funky things within the cells on tests.

They will be contacting me by Friday again in regards to some tests they haven’t received back yet. The test are in regards to my cancer tumor that didn’t 100% respond to my first chemo treatment. (It’s fully out now after my mastectomy so they want some more testing from the labs). They also only did a pathology report on my initial biopsy labs so will complete there own pathology report on after surgery tumors.

So things may change a little bit after that but got the news I was expecting. I will stay on my hormone blocker for right now and also be starting chemo for 6 months in the next week or two.
It definitely a hard thing to think about because of how my body handles the infusion chemo I did for 3 months before. I was reassured today that if my body can’t handle it for entire 6 months that I will stop it.
She said my treatment up until right now have been done perfectly and she considered my reoccurrence right now at around 20%. If I do the hormone blocker (she doesn’t necessarily think I absolutely need to due to my results) and do the oral chemo pill it will drop below the 20% chance.
She also said to look at these nexts treatments (chemo and hormone pill) has all extras- so even if I can only handle 2 months of it…. Its okay because it’s extra treatment and is better then doing nothing more.

She definitely made me look at it more positively. Although she like my other doctor are definitely back and forth on the tests and which way to treat is the way to go…. So both agree if I can handle it we need to treat both types of cancer cells.
She and my other cancer doctor have both agreed that it is definitely acting more like triple negative breast cancer so we will be aggressive just like that evil cancer is.

I will hear more Friday but thought I would share an update! I am feeling great after surgery and the results are definitely better then I ever expected 😀

I GOT THIS!
