Journal entry by Amanda Hurdowar

Hello dear friends and family.  This is Belinda, Mandy's sister-in-law. I am so sorry to share this news with you but Mandy lost her battle with cancer yesterday, April 25. Understandably, we are devastated. We wanted to let you know about her Celebration of Life this Saturday April 29 and I've copied below her obituary with more details. We would be honoured to have you join us to celebrate the life of this extraordinary woman, mother, partner, daughter, sister, friend and colleague.

Amanda Glenna Hurdowar, April 22, 1976-April 25, 2023

It is with profound sorrow that we share the loss of Mandy Hurdowar, age 47.  Mandy was born in Toronto, grew up in New Germany, Nova Scotia and Markham, Ontario and settled in Burlington, Ontario with her husband Darun and two boys, Josh, 14 and Ben, 11.  Mandy was a vivacious, fun-loving and dedicated mom and partner. She was a valued friend in her community and neighbourhood.

Beloved daughter of Sandra Doyle, sister of Craig (Iliana) and Shane (Belinda), sister-in-law of Sue, Anita (Steve) and Diana (Jaime), and favourite auntie to many. She was proficient at whatever she turned her hand to, from cooking to sewing and knitting, to home renovations or crafts. She was as comfortable with a mitre saw in her hand as she was with a spatula. Mandy was a marvel.

Mandy worked at SickKids Hospital, Hamilton Health Sciences and most recently at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and helped to improve the health care experience for patients. She will be greatly missed by her work colleagues as well.

A private cremation will take place. A celebration of life will take place at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Great Hall, 1382 Ontario Street, Burlington ON L7S 1G1 on Saturday April 29, from 1:00 to 3:00pm.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Amanda’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
