Amanda’s Story

Site created on June 25, 2019

Amanda was born with severe clubbed feet and has undergone nine painful surgeries. She’s been living with 16 screws and plates in her feet these recent years, and the pain from these procedures has been extreme and debilitating.

As a young woman of 22, Amanda had to make a decision between spending the rest of her life in a wheelchair and sitting behind a desk, or making a radical decision toward prosthetics to live a pain-free and fully mobile life. That was her choice, and she hasn’t wavered.

Journal entry by Amanda Carmichael

Hello hello!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter with your families.

Tomorrow I will be giving my second Master's Recital at 1:15pm BST, which will be 7.15am CST, and I chose the theme Sacred Music since it's close to Easter:) . There will be a live stream link that will later be turned into a recording available on YouTube! I just thought I would share some details, and I apologize for the very late notice...

This link will take you to a page where you can access the live stream:

https://www.york.ac.uk/arts-creative-technologies/about/music-at-york/lyons-live/

I will give a proper update post-recital!
