Journal entry by Michelle Allen —
Hey, everyone. We got an update from the hospice nurse on Monday. It looks like we're heading into the final stages with Alyse. She's currently spending most of her time in bed, sleeping, but is still able to visit with people for a little bit at a time. She's not really eating anything and hasn't been able to swallow down her pain pills, so they've put her on a pain pump in order to make her as comfortable as possible. While she isn't really answering many phone calls, she is receiving your text messages, so please keep sending them. She seems to still be in pretty good spirits but is very tired all the time.
During this time, we are looking for some help. Alyse is in need of someone to be with her around the clock for the next few weeks. We've set up a schedule of shifts for each day, 8am - 2 pm, 2pm - 8 pm, 8pm - 12 am and then 12am - 8 am. We will need someone to come and sit at the house with her during these times. I know she has a lot of people who love her, so I don't think we'll have trouble getting these spots filled. Even if you can only take one, please take the opportunity to be there for Alyse like she has been there for so many other people over the years.
A $25 donation to CaringBridge powers a site like Alyse's for two weeks. Will you make a gift to help ensure that this site stays online for them and for you?
