My name is Susan Foley. My husband, Mike & I are parishioners at St Peter Parish in Lincoln. We have followed your Dad's Caring Bridge site & have been praying for him during this challenging recovery!
In your most recent post you mentioned how tight your Dad's muscles are and asked for any suggestions. So I am reaching out to you to share the name of a Physical Therapist who has cared for several members of our family and is quite excellent! His name is Dr. Kyle Shunkwiler. He started his own practice (Spine & Sports Chiropractic) in Lincoln several years ago & now has several associates practicing in his office. What is unique about Dr Shunkwiler is that he is a hybrid, as he has been trained in chiropractic, has a Masters in Physical Therapy & also is an expert at Active Release Technique (ART). Many Physical Therapists are not familiar with ART, but it is the gold standard of soft tissue treatment. It is a method of stretching the muscles to relieve the tightness your Dad is experiencing. Nancy Gibson: I am a member of St. Peter’s. I am so sorry to hear your Dad is continuing to have so much discomfort. I will continue to keep Alan and you all in my prayers. I do not know if your Dad would be a candidate for ART( Active Release Therapy). This is usually done by a Physical Therapist or Chiropractor and can be very helpful. Perhaps it could be added into your Dad’s PT. You could certainly discuss it with his Physical Therapist or his physician.
