Hey Alix it’s your pal Retts. There was no one like you. You were my role model and teacher. I was your best student. Rest now. We will handle it from here.
_My Tribute to Alix Dobkin__
Alix Dobkin is the mother of us all. Happy Mothers Day to one of the world”s greatest and bravest beacons of wisdom, integrity and inspiration for the advancement of Lesbian culture.
Alix is our mentor and guru, the woman who guided and pioneered our way into knowing what it means to be proud of who we are. Alix raised our consciousness and opened our eyes and minds to a joyful understanding of sisterhood where our admiration, love and respect for each other blossomed into a force to be reckoned with.
I send my love and boundless healing energy. She is my teacher and mentor. She is a one of a kind, inimitable woman who has filled my heart with the gift to recognize the achievements of Lesbians throughout the centuries.
Her brilliant music has been the conveyance of hope for our future and a legacy for all of us and for those Lesbian women yet to come.
Alix, let your lyrics propel you back onto life’s stage where your longing audience can feel your fighting spirit and your encouragement to be the proud women you showed us we could be. It is now your turn to take hold of the strength you so generously gave to us.
Please know that your powerful message and graciousness will always be a treasure for all Lesbians and for those yet to come So...once again, Happy Mothers Day, dear Alix and many thanks to you, our precious symbol of fearlessness and pride.

Camille Paglia
Its taken a little while to let the news of her passing sink in. But Alix came to Belfast in the 80s - a time when few performers came to the North of Ireland because the conflict was raging. She sang to a room full of young dykes as we were then, gave us hope, made us proud and strengthened us to keep on keeping on in the face of daily struggles for survival. Alix stayed at my house and it was a privilege to have her company. May the road rise to meet her on this new journey. x
Alix touched lives even from afar. As a young dyke in Melbourne Australia in the late 1970's and early 80's I played her music and hung on every word. Saw her in Melbourne, listened to her music and shared with many over the years. An inspiration and a life well lived.
Dear Retts and Bonnie. I hope I can privately talk with you about the project I was working on with Alix before she passed away… I need to speak with Adrian to see if she wants me to move forward or not. I hope we can and with your help and the help of Alix’s friends, I think it would be a fitting tribute… my email is a_paradox@bellsouth.net. Thank you!
Dear Retts and Bonnie,
I am sending my deepest condolences to you. Words are so inadequate to express what my heavy heart is feeling over the passing of the greatest friend and inspiration Lesbians have ever had.
Alix, you have no idea what you have meant to us. You will reign on in our souls forever!
Please let Alix’s family know I send my condolences to them also. If you could find my tribute to Alix among your emails and post it on Caring Bridge I’d appreciate it. I am not tech savvy and can’t do it myself.
May our beloved head Lesbian Rest In Peace.
My best,
Camille
