I absolutely loved it when Alison came through the Pick-Up Window at Central Library! What a hoot! Although I did not personally know her, I looked forward to the day when I might be fortunate enough to be at the window when Alison came through. I always knew what a laugh I would get.

As I said in my donation comment, Cousin Alison and Sherdian came to live with us in NJ when I was 15. My sibs and I were delighted with this glamorous, older cousin (I think she was only 21 at that time!) who cussed, taught us dirty jokes, beautifully made up her face every day, smoked and could be quite flippant- but who also gave us guidance and was a good listener and let us see her soft side. After they moved to their apartment in the Fort Monmouth area we visited them on occasion. I remember the beautifully matched towels in the bathroom and the way Alison (whom I was named for, albeit it with two 'L's in *my* name) made that whole apartment look so special. The flair for decorating and dressing with style is definitely a Damon trait. (Susy influenced me more than she knows, as well, albeit long distance. ) Growing up and (even now) living halfway across the country from my Damon cousins meant that I have not been able to see them or spend time with them as much as I have wanted. There have been too few get togethers across the years but all thoroughly fun! Reading these comments here I really feel the loss for not having known Alison ("Al") better. We did correspond from time to time but that is not the same. I now picture Al on The Other Side with my mom, Aunt Carol, my two sisters and other family as well. It is indeed a comforting thought!! Those of you who were able to spend time with Al and really know her were very fortunate- and I can see from these comments that you all know it! Blessings on all of you, Family and Friends. ~Allison~ ("Allis")

Well this brought me to tears. Happy tears reading such a beautiful tribute to her and of course sad tears too, missing her.. On the DeMoss side of the family she started going by “Uncle Al” from at least 1991! I was the 3 year old that just couldn’t get her name right and ended up calling her Uncle Al along with my Uncle Buddy and the name Uncle Al stuck from then on, to everyone in our family! I have so many memories of Summer trips all together spending time with her! She was the best and I can still picture her sitting out on the deck on those vacation mornings having a cigarette and coffee and can still hear her laugh! I will miss her so much!

A perfect Obituary. I met Alison because she became my sister-in-law when my brother was lucky enough to marry her. She became my Sister, my best friend, my confidant, and had my heart from the day I met her. That was just who she was. To my grandchildren she became "Uncle Al" because the first little 3 year old could not understand why someone named "Al" could be an Aunt. My love for her is unending.

What a tribute. Beautiful, poignant, cheeky and full of love. Well done to this mother, sister, aunt, daughter, wife, and friend--and to those who so deeply love her. Thinking of you all with tenderness and love.

This is a wonderful obit. Describing Big Al perfectly. I loved working with her and kept in touch after I left BPC. She will be missed. XO
