Journal entry by Karen Renz —
Alicia was admitted to the Providence Medical Center ER as the result of a blockage created by her stoma closing up. Because it was her 4th blockage to date and 2nd ER admission, her surgeon, Dr. Samantha Quade, scheduled surgery for Monday, Nov. 19th. The surgery went well and Dr. Quade is keeping Alicia at Providence to monitor progress. We both are very grateful to Dr. Quade for her conservative approach and careful monitoring of all aspects of her care. Alicia is in a considerable amount of pain, but pain management is being administered. She will not be discharged until at least the 21st, however, this should be a relatively short stay.
The good side to all of this is that Alicia and I have reconnected with the wonderful staff here at Providence and she has had many visits from people she has grown very fond of.
Please don't hesitate to text or email either one of us. We're just putting up this site for easy check in. I will update it as we learn more about her progress. Happy Thanksgiving to all. We are grateful for your love/friendship/concern.
