Journal entry by Courtney Waugh

The week Aidan got injured was one of the most difficult weeks for my family.  It was filled with moments of desperation, begging to God, tears, guilt, laughter, love, and finally a debt of gratitude that feels like we cannot pay back.  With that said all I can say is THANK YOU!

I want this to be about Aidan and the miracle God performed.

1 Corinthians 1:17
“For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with wisdom and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.”

The verse above is my goal for you to see Aidan’s walk with Christ and God’s  unfailing love for Aidan.  I want you to know how amazing he is and how powerful your prayers are.  I was telling someone about how strong he is and they said it’s because he has awesome parents.  I wish I could take some credit for who Aidan is but it is NOT me.   He does have an amazing mother who did not leave the hospital one night while he was in there.  She stayed by his side and I had to beg her to go to dinner and she went……ONE evening.  I believe the only reason Aidan is such a special person is because he was chosen by God!

From the moment he woke up from his brain surgery he NEVER has had a moment of self pity.  He took every step in stride and showed me that no matter the circumstances that God is in control.  He was thankful for everyone around him and talked about how great everyone else was for praying for him.  There were times that pain and tears took over but that did not deter him from taking things as they come and walking away as a Christian man.  I’m in awe of him.
He sent me a text last night thanking me for “working tirelessly to make his life better and showing him God’s  grace and love.”  😭😭😭  He did not speak of the freak accident or say why did this happen to me.  He didn’t question the 8 inch scar on the front of his head.  He didn’t ask why he had to endure hours of pain from a drain that was placed in his back to drain cerebrospinal fluid from his brain so that his brain could heal.  He thanked me for things totally unrelated to a week of misery.  I explained to him how he is the one teaching me and loving me and everyone around him as Jesus called us to do.  If you know Aidan you know how true that is.  Aidan does not seek pity.  He is literally the strongest person I know.  I have no idea why God chose me to be his dad but I am eternally grateful God chose me!
Please reach out to Aidan and let him know how much you love him and how much God loves him!  (405)435-5851.

Aidan has follow up appointments this week.  I know we have asked a lot but I have zero reservations asking for you to pray more for this amazing person!  Again THANK YOU!!!
