Adam’s Story

Site created on January 4, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website.

The time has come for Adam to begin the process of getting new lungs. We are fortunate that Adam has been accepted as a transplant patient at Duke, one of the most renowned lung transplant programs available.

We will use this site to keep family and friend updated during this process. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement, it means a lot to have everyone's support. Thank you for visiting.

Journal entry by Livia Hayes

Last week we made a quick trip back to Durham (up Wednesday, back Friday) for Adam's sinus surgery on Thursday. It was a long day but everything went well. The doctor cleaned out his front (maxillary) sinuses and said the others looked good.

Adam's recovery is going well. It's somewhat uncomfortable because of the packing/stuffy nose but otherwise he's feeling well. Tomorrow he will visit a local ENT for surgery follow up and to remove the packing.

We are still waiting for results from his lung cultures back in mid-Feb that will confirm whether he cleared the mycobacterium and can (finally) stop the IV antibiotics. Hopefully we'll hear soon!
