Thanks so much for sharing this, Connie and Adam. I am saddened that your survival reality has not been the healthy path that we all prayed it would be. You’ve been given a beautiful talent for writing and a family situation that you are using to educate people on so many topics. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! People tend to run fast and far from anything associated with any shade of mental illness. I pray that your openness will help others to understand that mental illness is just a different form of physiological problems in the body and brain. I am glad to know how to be praying for Adam right now and to also be reminded to pray for the special people who dedicate their careers to this field. We don’t get to pick the path for our loved ones, but we can choose what to do with our newfound knowledge gained from the rocky paths. Connie and Adam, you two are true gems.
Thank you for sharing. Tori has 7 weeks of chemo left and the depression has started showing signs. Knowing she isn't ALONE is huge. THANK YOU for sharing.
Praying for you all.
I came to you through Marilyn at Sonoco.
My son is also a leukemia survivor, which makes me also the worrisome Mom.
Nothing is ever the same!
That is truly the one statement that I’m sure every cancer family would agree with.
My son, Logan, is also in college.
He was diagnosed in 2005, relapsed in 2006, bone marrow transplant in 2007.
He hates the fact that he’ll be on medicines the rest of his life due to fall outs from treatments.
One of his most important is his testerone injections he does every two weeks.
Before those, he dealt with major fatigue all the time!
I’m actually in St Augustine to take him back home fir a surgery now.
He has a chlosetoma growth in his right ear that has to be removed, causing hearing damage and loss.
Glad that you all are putting your thoughts, worries, and issues out there!
Know that we are all praying for you here in our home.
Connie, you wrote beautifully from the heart. I truly pray morning and evening for your family and healing for Adam. I will be in Nashville for the race, so I’ll see y’all there. It’s also the NFL draft, so plan accordingly. May be fun to check out. I am so glad that all of you are mindful of changes perceived and you take corrective action so you don’t go into a downward spiral. I haven’t personally had cancer, but I’ve experienced the death of a spouse from this wicked thief. Adam didn’t die, but life as he knew it is gone! The same goes for you and the rest of the family. This can and should be acknowledged, but there is nothing to be ashamed of. Having a positive attitude does just so much. Then, when chemo alters hormones and neurological pathways, medcine, science, counselors....all play a significant role in this thing we call being “healthy.”
Adam, you’re an amazing young man (helps to be gorgeous, too haha) who will have a lasting influence far beyond what you can see. Your future is bright. I can hardly wait to be there when Rick announces your $1M goal achieved. “Thank you” is so insignificant. I’ll continue to pray for the whole family to be “whole.” Love y’all!
Among other things, I was so pleased to see that Adam advanced in the Truman quest. Wonderful news for me!
