Friends,
It has been a bittersweet few months. Bridget is growing and we are back in a pattern of work, school and travel. Much joy, but still, much sorrow. Most of the waves come first thing in the morning and in the evening, but occasionally they will hit us during the middle of a busy day.
Writing has been a great outlet for me in this time of grief. A few months ago I was asked to write an article reflecting on my experience for a men's magazine called the Sword and Spade. This quarterly publication is produced by Fraternus, which is a brotherhood of men who invite young men into Christian manhood through Rites of Passage, weekly gatherings and other adventures. I have been a part of this mission for years, helping form a local Chapter and working for them for the last 5 years. The brotherhood has strengthened my own faith and I have seen the lives of hundreds of men and boys transformed into the likeness of Christ. I am very passionate about this mission.
Many of you have reached out to me to encourage me to keep writing. Some of you who are authors have encouraged me to write a book. Putting together this article was very difficult, both emotionally and in terms of making it fit for the magazine. The editor was a great help to me, and after a few months in the making, the magazine will be published.
Pictures of the cover and the article intro page are below. On the cover you can see Fr Allen praying over Abigail and Bridget after their baptism in the hospital. On the article intro page is me holding Abigail after her baptism, for the first and last time.
It is literally being printed now and will be mailed early next week. I thought I would let you know, so a) I could ask you to pray that God will use the article b) Offer to send you a copy of the magazine if you would like to read it.
