Journal entry by Josh Johnson

This Wednesday we will be heading back to Charleston for the first time since moving back to the Upstate. A week from today, Sunday, May 19, Bishop Stephen Lopes of the North American Ordinariate will be in Charleston to confer Confirmation & administer first communion to the children of Corpus Christi Catholic Community. The Ordinariate is a community of Christians that have come in full communion with the Catholic Church, mostly from Anglican and related backgrounds. We have been members of the Ordinariate for years, but have never been a part of a local parish. Corpus Christi is the only Ordinariate community in South Carolina. One of the blessings of us being in Charleston was being in this community. We received much love there and it became our home away from home.

Joshua and Lizzie will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation and Juliana will be receiving her first communion. We are excited that Lizzie and Josh will be receiving the graces to become soldiers and empower their witness for Jesus. We are also excited Juliana will be participating in the Sacrament of Penance for the first time and receiving our Lord's Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity for the first time!

In preparation, we would like to invite you to pray the Novena to the Holy Spirit. You may recall we had started praying this Novena for Abigail before her surgery. It is the first novena that dates back to when the Apostles and Mary devoted themselves to prayer in between the Ascension and the day of Pentecost. While we are sorrowful (and even angry at times) God did not perform a physical miracle for Abigail we recognize the greater blessing of the gift of eternal life he gave her. Prior to surgery, she received the sacrament of Baptism and Confirmation, along with Bridget. She and Bridget were our first children to receive Confirmation, and now Josh and Lizzie will follow them. We know her and Chiara's prayers for her siblings are unceasing and we invite you to join them this week as Josh, Lizzie and Juliana prepare for these incredible graces.

Also, Bridget turned 3 months and we posted some pictures from the last month on facebook. She is growing fast and is such a beautiful baby!

Please also pray for us. As I learned from my time in the hospital with Lizzie two weeks ago, places associated with Abigail's short life and death can trigger grief so sharp it feels like it happened yesterday.
