On Friday evening December 18, 2020, Arthur couldn’t be awoken by his wife or son. The whole family had contracted Covid 19. He had been sleeping a lot, as well as the rest of the family. 911 was called and that was when he was admitted into the hospital. After some quick assessments the medical staff realized Arthur was very sick. On December 20th he was put on a ventilator and several days later needed a stomach feeding tube. Arthur was in the hospital for almost 3 full weeks. After time he has been in 3 different level of care rooms, the last being the lowest level, which is truly a miracle. Melondy, Chris, Arthur (Adam) and his wife Jill, and grandson Jordan, took each day as it came. They were all literally living on prayers and faith that their husband/dad/pawpaw would make it through.
On December 24 the family was informed that Arthur had suffered a stroke. They are not able to fully access the impact on him as of yet due to so many complications and the fact that he is still very weak.
The good news is that Arthur was able to be taken off the ventilator on December 30th and no longer needs oxygen. He is responding to commands and knows who he is.
Arthur’s strength to fight through this awful virus and complications is a true miracle. He still has quite the journey ahead to regain strength and figure out what a new normal looks like. We thank God for bringing him this far and providing for every need.
As of last night, January 7, 2021 Arthur was moved to a LTAC (Long Term Acute Care) facility for rehab and recovery. All his assessments are being conducted and we will see what this team of Doctors and staff have to say in the coming days.

The local family has been so blessed by meals, calls of concern and encouragement, Christmas gifts and stockings, Pies Pies and Pies, and many other ways of outreach.
On December 26th a Nurse, whom the family calls their Angel, helped them FaceTime with Arthur. It was quite difficult for them to see him in his state but also so relieving to see him alive and striving.
Mel and her son Chris were able to go and visit Arthur on December 28th. It was good for them to be able to sit with him and hold his hand even though he was on the ventilator and couldn’t speak and they had to be gowned up from head to toe. It truly was another miracle!

One day last week Arthur fell at our front steps to the house. He kept telling me that he was okay, but the fall has caused him to regress a bit on his progress at therapy and he has been experiencing quite a bit of pain. Rest has been an important part of him healing from the fall, but he is still working hard at therapy. Hopefully he will start feeling better before too long.
