Journal entry by Abby Jackson —
Hello friends family loved ones all. Happiest of greetings in this new year to you.
I have been working on writing an update for a while on life at home with Gabe in the last months - this season has been hard and rich and exhausting and sweet and crazy. So so crazy being parents of a medically complex kiddo in the midst of a pandemic.
But the general overall life updates will have to wait for another day - this will be a brief update and request for prayer.
Gabe is back at the hospital this week for some acute respiratory issues. He had some concerning symptoms 4 days ago and after working with our home care team, implementing our emergency measures, and attempts to stabilize him at home, our pulmonary team recommended that he get evaluated at the hospital. He was admitted and has been on the pulmonary floor at Luries this week.
He had a rough few days but is slowly recovering and hoping to head home soon. There were some scary moments and much lost sleep but overall he has done well. In true Gabe fashion he has charmed all the nurses and attempted several times to breakout on his own. Honestly this kid is the strongest bravest human I know.
Please pray for continued healing for Gabe as well as energy strength and wisdom as we adjust his care in the days and weeks ahead.
We will keep you updated with more details when we are able to head home.
As always - we deeply love and appreciate you all.
