Aaron’s Story

Site created on November 3, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to so that family and friends have one central place for updates.  It is difficult to talk to everyone when we are dealing with so many things each day.  This site will also allow people to send messages to us.  We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.  Thank you so much for visiting this site.

On October 31, Aaron was traveling from Rocky Point back to LA.  He was alone so it is difficult to know exactly what or what time it happened.  We do know that his vehicle left the road and rolled multiple times for about 50+ feet.  On this particular stretch of road, the sand will drift from winds coming off the Sea of Cortez, making it easy to lose control if hit just right.  This highway is fairly new but it is not traveled as much as the other road & longer route he
could have taken.   So we are very thankful that a passerby stopped to see if he could help.  He called the Red Cross Ambulance and Aaron was then transported back RP.   From all accounts, the care that Aaron received in RP was very good.  We are so grateful for a friend of ours went over and handled all of the paperwork, expenses, and red tape so it was possible for him to leave for a hospital in Phoenix.  This same friend also rode in the ambulance to Ajo, where a helicopter was waiting to transport Aaron to St. Josephs Trauma Center.

Aaron had cuts and bruises and a serious head/brain injury.   It will be a while before we know the long-term effect this will have on his daily life.
He has been in ICU and was just transferred as an In-patient at their Neuro Rehab  Center.   Aaron will be undergoing a rigorous rehab program and at this point, we do not know how long this will take.
