As we close the books on our successful Holiday Campaign, I have been thinking a lot about 20 years ago—June 1997—when I started CaringBridge. One act of building a website for two people during a health crisis.

And here we are today! In 2016, nearly 33 million people visited CaringBridge at least once to support a friend or family member on a health journey.

You Are CaringBridge

But it still comes down to You making the Mission and impact of CaringBridge come alive, by amplifying the love, hope and compassion in this world making each health journey easier.

As you have experienced, CaringBridge provides a special and unique space for people whose lives have been turned on a dime, and to the community that is there for them. This safe and positive space is becoming rare, as other online sites become more diluted and crowded.

But CaringBridge is able to stay true to its Mission because it thrives on the powerful impact of giving actions. From the giving action of posting a CaringBridge Journal and leaving a Well Wish to donating to ensure CaringBridge is always available, always free to use, and continuously improving, this service exists because of your support.

What Does CaringBridge Mean to You

During the Holiday Campaign, we asked a number of CaringBridge users to describe what the service means to them. Even though the appeal is concluded—my heartfelt thanks to everyone who was able to make a gift—I wanted to share with you a short video of responses to our fill-in-the-blank question of “CaringBridge is ____”

Thank You

Thank you again for your emotional, practical and financial support in a service that offers love, hope and compassion when it’s needed the most. I look forward to the next 20 years of being a first place to turn after diagnosis, illness, injury, premature birth or any health crisis.

P.S. When I think about what CaringBridge means to me, it is Y-O-U!

CaringBridge has helped me stay connected to friends through some very trying times. My small donation was the least I could do. Keep up the good work.

I am so glad that I could help and it allows me to have access to Margo Holland's daily routine .. This must mean so much to Margo and others in Rehab....

CaringBridge and a great friend at the hospital almost daily, kept me, the mother of a daughter having her 2nd brain surgery in just 2 years, (gratefully not a cancer but still very serious). Being elderly and on oxygen prevented me from being at the hospital over 80 miles away. CaringBridge was my life-line to my daughter's progress and I do contribute gladly to its cause.

This was so helpful for my daughter and granddaughter to keep me informed as my granddaughter had her treatments. Being in a different state from them it was great that I could pull up their comments and be informed. Great site.

I'm so happy to have helped, and I wish I could help more, but a teenager has limited funds:) Still, I hope to donate at least a small amount every year when I can because Caring Bridge is such an amazing organization that I found to be made up of strong and compassionate people.

I've never heard of Caring Bridge until my nephew had his snowboarding accident and TBI in 2007. As is turns out, I also have since met the family for whom Caring Bridge was created (my great niece is a friend of the family). Since learning about Caring Bridge I have had many friends and or their families with a CB site and try to donate when I can. Caring Bridge is an AWESOME way to get updates on loved ones.
