Every month, CaringBridge likes to recognize a caregiver or family of the month that exemplifies our mission to amplify love, hope and compassion in the world.
Communicating Across Distances
Chris and Lisa L. were on a cruise during a family vacation when one of their kids, Chase, nearly drowned in a busy pool. By the time he was found, he was unresponsive and hadn’t been breathing for several minutes. With over 1,500 miles between them and home, Chris and Lisa used CaringBridge to connect with their community. “The second we got to the hospital, we were flooded with questions on how Chase was doing,” Lisa recalls “CaringBridge not only allowed us to inform people. It also gave us an outlet for our emotions.”
Unknown Caring and Courage
For Chris and Lisa, CaringBridge proved to be a vital life line. “What surprised us the most was how easy it was to use and how many people it got us in touch with that we otherwise would have never met,” Lisa says. “We were able to meet some of the people that helped save Chase’s life and that were instrumental in him being here today.” It was through their Site that Chris and Lisa were able to piece together the events of that day from those who aided during Chase’s accident. In response, Chris and Lisa sent notes to thank them for their help.
Source of Ease
With caring friends and family spanning across the country, Chris and Lisa were able to gather necessary support as well as discuss every detail of Chase’s health journey .“Words can’t express how much this website has done for us,” Lisa says. “It has been a long and difficult journey, but with the Site and our vast network of friends and family, it has helped ease our minds and has been an incredible source of therapy and communication for Chris and me.”
