Enhancements to Well Wishes: More Ways to Show You Care

Thanks to insights from CaringBridge users like you, there are now many more ways to say, “I’m thinking about you.” Whether it is flowers, inspirational or spiritual quotes or a personal image or note, you can bring a little sunshine to someone’s day with a click of the button.

For times when it is hard to find the right words, you might choose to send a Well Wish with a floral image—flowers are the language of love, right? The hand-painted illustrations created specifically for CaringBridge by artist Rachel Carpenter include: gladioulus for strength; aloe for healing; sage for wisdom; daffodil for love; iris for hope; and blue salvia for good thoughts.

Other options to show you care through Well Wishes include the most frequently appearing inspirational and spiritual quotes across CaringBridge sites. The message you wish to give, or receive, might be best-expressed by the Book of Isaiah: “Do not fear, for I am with you,” or “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you.”

Other favorites include the Swedish proverb, “Shared joy is double; shared sorrow is half,” and “Hope is the only thing stronger than fear,” a signature of author Robert Ludlum.

Also within Well Wishes, you may choose to upload a personal photo from your mobile device, or share a video link from YouTube. To feel that you’re not alone on a health journey is a cornerstone of community, and ultimately healing. May Well Wishes be among the many ways to show someone you care.

Love and Support Help Loved Ones Heal

Research studies of CaringBridge users continue to show that patients and family caregivers who feel loved and supported through their health journeys are most often able to find a path toward healing, regardless of medical outcome. (See story of Jen Ndegwa, pictured above.)

This is among the consistent themes appearing in the ongoing How We Heal series by CaringBridge, a project since 2017 that pairs academic research on facets of healing and family stories with the hope of helping more people move toward wholeness after illness, injury and chronic health conditions.
