Welcome to Zoie's Caring Bridge website.  This website has been really good for us to journal each day, so everyone can be updated on her progress through this long journey we are on. Check the Journal for updates.  You can write her notes in the Guestbook--she just cannot respond to you.

We love you all, and thank you for all your love, support, prayers, gifts, and financial support!!  We can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens us!!!!

After Zoie had not been feeling well for 3 days with what we thought was either strep throat or mono, we took her to Urgent Care on 4-22-10, had blood tests ran, which showed that her blood levels were extremely low, she was rushed by ambulance to University Medical Center in Tucson, AZ where she was immediately admitted and further tests were ran, including a bone marrow biopsy, which confirmed that she has acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).  We were told that if you get leukemia, this is the best type to get, because it is very treatable and her prognosis looks very good, however, we have a long road ahead of us with 2 1/2 years of chemo.

On 4-26-10, she started her 29 days of extensive chemo.  On 5-27-10, we got the GREAT NEWS that she is now in REMISSION!!!  Praise God!!!!!  So what does that mean?  Her bone marrow showed 0% cancer cells, and we can now start phase 2 of her treatments.  She will have 5 phases, with each phase being 8-weeks long, and then she will go to the maintenance phase for another 2 years.

On 6-1-10, we started our first 8-week phase (which is really phase 2).

We have a very long road of recovery ahead of us, but we are taking it one day at a time, and God will get us through the next 2 1/2 years!!!  We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us!!!!!

After 14 months of intensive treatment, 3-4x per week, Zoie finally graduated to the maintenance phase of treatment on 6-8-11.  She will continue receive treatment once a month through her port, plus taking chemo pills daily, and steroids 5 days a month.  This treatment plan will continue until approximately August 2012.  We Praise God that he continues to heal Zoie every day.  She is looking forward to returning to school in August, after being homeschooled last year.  Please continue to lift up Zoie in prayer for a COMPLETE healing!!!

After fighting pertussis for 4 1/2 months, Zoie was finally cleared of pertussis at the end of August 2012, and then one week later was declared in REMISSION and 100% cancer-free--Praise God!!!  She has started high school, enjoying life and her friends, and is now on her way to recovering 100%--Praise God he has healed Zoie!!!!

After being in remission for 3 1/2 years, Zoie's leukemia returned in April 2016.  She will now start chemo again! She received a bone marrow transplant on 9-30-16, and her 19-year old brother, Zak, was her "perfect" match donor--Praise God! She will be in the hospital for 4-6 weeks starting on 9-23-16, and then will be home-bound for 2-3 months, as her immune system tries to rebuild itself. Her goal is to start college in January 2017.

Thank you to all of you for your prayers and support!!!  We love you all!!!
