Zavier was born on August 5th, 2017. He came to us 4 weeks early but still weighing in at 6.0 lbs! Zavier had several doctors awaiting his arrival, as they discovered months ago that he has a rare condition, Heterotaxy with a single ventricle heart. Zavier's heart and stomach developed on the right side of his body instead of the left. His heart only has one ventricle (bottom chamber) instead of two. In addition to these complications, He has supracardiac total anomalous pulmonary venous return (TAPVR). There are links on this site for more information on his conditions but basically he has red blood and blue blood mixing in places that it should not be mixing. Zavier was also born without a spleen, which is typical with Heterotaxy, so he will need antibiotics indefinately. Zavier will be enduring at least a few heart surgeries, the first within a few weeks, in an attempt to correct his blood flow within his heart, lungs, and out to the rest of his body. He has been a wonderful little trooper so far and has overcome some hurdles with breast feeding already! Please keep him in your thoughts, your heart, and your prayers :) We thank each and everyone of you for your support!
His story started in Nashville but he was born a Minneapolis boy...
