Zain has had his tumor for awhile now, but started having complications with increased headaches, double vision, balance issues but of course it was during the time I had lost our health insurance. I had just gotten terminated from my job for being off on workman’s Comp (injuried working as a ER nurse) to long and remain off 18 months later (and yes it’s legal for them to do that). So I applied for Medicaid which took 9 months to get accepted. During that time I reached out to big hospitals for children, which all denied my request for help due to no insurance. When we finally got Medicaid, the MRI was the first thing I got scheduled and the response of “malignant neoplasms of the brain” was the words no parent ever wants to hear. Zain has a lot of pre operative check offs to get done because he has some other health issues. We are busy getting all of our pre op visits done to make sure his heart, lungs, kidneys, hemotologist/oncologist, Skull (has another boney tumor In his skull) and neurologist because he has seizures (that are not related to the tumor) are all healthy enough to last the brain surgery. Hopefully they can remove all, if not most of the tumor from his brain. Corona virus has put up road blocks cause we can’t really go do things before he has surgery. We can’t take the chance of him getting sick and after surgery he will have issues with walking, either learning to do it all or just balance and we don’t know what other surprises will come until he wakes up from surgery. Zain has always loved music it is his outlet. He listens, he writes his own. Some of his favorites are Eminem, NF, Papa Roach, Skillet, Halestorm, In This Moment, Shinedown. If anyone has a way of reaching out and getting a letter, post card, picture, anything. It would make his day cause make a wish is locked down right now and I don’t see it opening before his surgery. Zain is the greatest kid with the biggest heart who just wants everyone to be happy and smile. And all’s I want is to make him happy and the funny thing, he has been poked and prodded so long he thinks it’s normal for everyone to have 5 and 6 doctors and travel to different states to see their doctors. He just smiles and goes about his business. His surgery date is June 2nd I will keep this updated as we get closer and of course when the time comes. Any words of encouragement and thoughts to let him know he isn’t alone and to make him feel special, We would greatly appreciate. Thanks for all your support and thoughts.
