We are once again excited to participate in the Craig Hospital's "Pedal 4 Possible" biking fundraising event on October 18th, 2025. This will be Zach's 5th year riding in the event, and he is always looking forward to ride to raise money to pay forward for other recipients that benefit from Craig's programs and events.As a family, we enjoy attending the annual Pedal 4 Possible event since it gives us the opportunity to reconnect with other former Craig Hospital TBI alumni and their families going through their own TBI recovery paths. As you might recall from last year, Zach relearned how to ride his 2-wheel mountain bike on the road just a few months before last year's biking event. This year, we took Zach on a real single track mountain bike trail, and he was able to negotiate the steep grade, loose rocks and gravel, and avoid the ruts to keep riding the entire length of the trail! This definitely was both a physical and mental challenge for him as it tested his balance, endurance and awareness of his surroundings on a shared trail. Zach has always come up with our team name each year. This year's team name is Pedal to the Medal.Here's his story behind our 2025 team name...For this year's Pedal for Possible team, I decided to name it: Pedal to the Metal! That idiom means you push the gas accelerator in a car, to go fast as you can! As my TBI recovery has been progressing well, I have been having many days with powerful moments where I'm remembering who I am as a person. One of my greatest characteristics was having too much energy! I've been in the process of TBI recovery for over 6 years, and my 7-year survival mark will be October 16th, 2025! Recovery has been exhausting at many times. Rebuilding my damaged brain cells and injured muscles has been really challenging for me and my whole support team! Now that I have healed so much, I have been getting my energy back! Now I have met many new people through multiple avenues: School, work, and community events.
