Yvonne has a condition called Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, which means an overgrowth of heart muscle within her heart causing it to pump inefficiently. You may have heard about this condition in the news when there is a young athlete who goes into cardiac arrest during practice or a game. Well, this is the condition they have. There is no way she could have prevented getting this, her body just produces excess heart muscle. She had a myomectomy surgery for this condition in 2011, but the muscle grew back and she is now at a point where her cardiologist feels that another surgery with one of the best heart surgeons Kaiser has to offer for this condition would be best. Mom/Yvonne has agreed and is scheduled for surgery on May 12th, 2016.
